Vastu shashtra is an ancient India scripture in which there is a thorough study of dwelling place, including its geographical conditions , ground and underground positions. The literal meaning of Vastu is ‘Building or dwelling place’.
The ruins of old buildings and cities found in the excavation of historical places like, Harappa , Mohanzodero, Sarnath etc. are enough to say that our ancient Indians had good knowledge of Vastu - Shshtra or architecture. They knew very well where they should build their houses and in which direction there should be the main gate, grananry, water collection, bathroom, kitchen and room for worship of deities in a house. Thus, they were expert in building Rangshla or theatre. They knew how and where stairs should be built.
